Designing a legacy: Branding an annual NCAA event honoring women in sport

100 Proof

  • Develop the name and visual identity for a new annual NCAA event celebrating women who are shaping the past, present, and future of collegiate sports. It needs to capture the drive that defines women’s athletics right now.

  • To kick this project off, I researched the sports world and pictured who would show up at something like this: women of all ages, from past legends to today's record-breakers. That mix created a little challenge. How could I design for everyone while making the event feel special and just for women?

100 Proof comes from full-throttle drive (like 100% proof, all gas, no brakes). I built this to show fearlessness and strength.

I started with the name, then started sketching logo ideas combining the "100" and "P" into one mark. I picked a feminine yet strong typeface and reshaped it into more of a symbol, since this event stands for something bigger. It works solo but I wanted it to pair well with the NCAA logo too.

Next the colors. I tied each to a few sports for easy organization, like splitting up badges, tables, and signs at the event.

From there, I mapped the whole attendee journey, from digital invites to swag and credentials. Every part nods to both new stars and old legends.
